Cultural differences between Mexico and USA #1

I think is fun and interesting learn something about cultures. When I came here to USa, I never imagined to sitting down with people from other countries. I am still quiet in the class, I don't want to offense anyone with my actions, but the people know hat i am kind of crazy.
First seven months I lived in California, I have cousins at there, even when they are hispanics, they have been raised with the culture from here, just couple ones have learned some of our real Mexican culture, and got some troubles, well, just people confused this, even I.
For example, In Mexico yout can say "hi" to anyone even though you don't know her/him. Or if one of your friends introduces to you other person, you can kiss him/her in the cheek. And when my cousin was introducing me with the other people, they just stare their eyes at me, I didn't know what to do, my cousing explains them later what it means. I feel unconfortable at this days so far, all my life I have been doing that expression, and probably when i back to Mexico i don't know how I will feel if I don't feel the same kissing to my friends in the cheek.
I have to say something. Man to man don't kiss them each other, we use to shake our hands or hit our hands with a punch. something that in here doesn't happen too, it probably means in here that i am being agressive.

7 canons of journalism

In Journalism we have 7 canons, this were adopted because there were some people who just use it for sensationalism. This is our ethic code. It was founded by American Society of Newspaper Editor. One the primary function of newspaper is communicate to the human race what is its member doing, feeling or thinking. Therefore, Journalism demands to us a wide range of intelligence of knowledge of experience, power of observation and reasoning.

1] - Responsibility – A journalist must always to consider the public’s welfare. We have the duty of communicate everything as we see. Users of newspaper trust in us, and we have to give them the information. A journalist who uses his power for any selfish or otherwise unworthy purpose is faithless to a high trust.

2] – Freedom of press – All we have a freedom of express and that wonderful, it’s a fundamental right. So that gives us the absolute freedom of writing our News coverage and editorial comments.

3] – Independence – We have the freedom from all obligation, but something vital and essential is keep the fidelity to the public interest.

4] – Sincerity, Truthfulness, accuracy – As this three words says, that’s our entire base. The reader trusts in us.

5] – Impartiality – When we are making our job, we have to take care about do not just put our opinion in it. There is an abysmal difference between a News report and Expression of opinion. But his rule do not apply for some articles where they ask for our opinion and conclusion.

6] – Fair play – The information have to be accurate, not manipulated, corrected by any mistakes it could be having, and should never be swayed by the reporter's personal conviction or bias. . Editorial comment should be an honest expression of the writer's belief, not to court popularity

7] - Decency - In the performance of their public and cultural mission, member newspapers must be available for anyone to read anytime, anywhere. They should maintain decency both editorially and in the area of advertising, and in their circulation practices they should at all times exercise moderation and good sense.

Mario Filio

I start with this Actor Voice because he is my favorite one. I like his “peaceful” voice. He does the voice of a channel saying the slogan “Canal 11, del Instituto Politecnico Nacional), then he gives his voice to Obi Wan Kenobi in Star wars saga.
On his site he does podcast interviewing actor voices or Speakers radio, I guess in English they are called Dj’s.
He gives his voices in some of Will Smith movies (“I, Robot”, “I’m Legend”). I like his podcast, I can say that I am a fan of him, and every Thursday at 9:00 I am waiting for his last new podcast. Today he is interviewing to Dulce Guerrero. I will talk about her in other post.

you can visit his website and hear him better:
www.mfilio.com

Actor Voices

When a movie, show, documental, cartoon, etc are release into another country where the language is not the same, the country hire actor voices to do the job of giving voice to that characters. I will start a miniseries of this actor voices. Some of them are announcers, speaker’s radio, or giving his voice to make advertising, trailer of movies, etcetera.
The action of do this is called in Spanish “Doblaje”. I didn’t find the word for this in English. But I know that in all the countries is use to do it. For Movies from China, Mexico, Russia, Germany, the United States of America make “doblaje” for that ones that probably don’t understand the foreign language.

AB III

I talked about Alter Bridge two post before, I said that AB was about to release a new album, well it’s called “AB III”, In UK it was released at October 11th, here in USa it will appear until November 9th, I've already got it, anyways, i will buy thi CD too. This album is a bit darker than the last one, we can see Mark Tremonti making doing better riffs, and his melodies are so cool. What about Myles? Well, his range vocal are insane. Scott Phillips (Drummer), I don’t know anything about drum but I love how Flip (Scott Phillips) sound in every record, and watching the Live DVD you can see them doing an excellent job.

Tracklist:
01. Slip To The Void (4:53)
02. Isolation (4:13)
03. Ghost Of Days Gone By (4:25)
04. All Hope Is Gone (4:49)
05. Still Remains (4:44)
06. Make It Right (4:16)
07. Wonderful Life (5:19)

09. Show Me A Sign (5:56)
10. Fallout (4:22)

13. Life Must Go On (4:32)

I, Robot [Book]

When I started reading this book I was thinking that it will be seemed as the book. Probably the only thing that is seemed are the names, some laws, and I dare to say that the movie is just another story that easily can appear in the book, another story of Susan Calvin.
The book starts with a man interviewing to Dr. Susan. She talks about the first robots, how they were working at first time, about what they were doing. For example, in this book the first one was a babysitter, and then the next generation was one who was sent to Venus. Well, all this robots are more complex every time, because they always are asking about ‘Human behavior’, and these issues are resolved in “I, robot” with the three laws of robotics.

Asimov has set up the Three Laws, which are:

1 - A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2 - A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3 - A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Author - Isaac Asimov
Title - I, Robot
Series - Robot
Year - 1950
Genre - Science Fiction

Alter Bridge

It’s not easy for musicians to let go of the past with their former bands, but Alter Bridge’s members (Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall, and Scott Phillips) may be an example of the contrary. They were part of a band named CREED, but for troubles with the singer they broke up (last year they reunite after 5 years for a tour and released an album called Full Circle). The other members met with Myles Kennedy (Ex-Mayfield) and formed a new band named Alter bridge. The result is something really incredible. Mark Tremonti with riffs so deep and dark, and Myles Kennedy with his vocals than probably can reach about 6 scales easily. They’re about to release their third album that will be called “AB III”.

Pruritus

Sometimes the itching is caused by foreign agents and damages that these foreign substances caused to your body, but do you know something? That’s not it all, You can have itching even if you don’t have anything about foreign agents, it’s kind of brain’s confusing, for example, people that for some reason have lost a part of their body says that they have a itching in that side that they don’t have anything.
So that means that itching is not only for something noxious to our body but the organism by itself generate an stimulation just for say to the brain that something weird is happening.

Freedom speech?

It was around 1996. Mexico was having hard times with the government, the society felt so alone and disappinted with the last President Carlos Salinas de Gortari. He left the nation with a BIG external debt, and the devaluation upon the country too.

Media just was manipulating information. The politican party named PRI (Partido Revolucionario Institucional) was in the power over 30 years. So, Mexico was inmeresed in a social pain. Everybody was afraid to speak, and what I said before even the media doesn't gave the right information. Then a garage band (underground band?) appears in scene, daring to government, daring to media with their lyrics. Mexican prudishness was shaken by them. That band is called MOLOTOV. They han been censured, blocked, boycott by citizens asociations in Spain. Their music wasn't sutil and that was the point. They were very irreverent, sarcastics, saying bad words, and they still are so far. Their music was about to show to the world that everything we supposed to know or belive is wrong. They said what everybody said but nobody dared to say it. They had the advantage that they were the first to say "I think/believe this about the government, media, woman, friends" and they just said it.

At beginning, media wasn't wanting sell their album by their lyrics, but then they become in the "apple" most wished by label records, and the anwers was not only for the quality music but social-politican factors too.

Now we have to answer something, who is controlling whom?
As we said in class, Freedom Speech vs Capitalism.

This band is good example about how freedom speech was used by them to say what people tried for long time. Plus, they said how media was in control by the government.

There are 7 canons in Journalism, two of its says Responsability, and Freedom of press. We don't must have preferences pressing politican parties, we have to keep a balance, and we must have responsaliblity of saying the real, and objetive news, no matter what. But obviusly it has to be regulated too.

That's the reason that host from Univision [Hispanic TV network in USA] Jorge Ramos left Mexico in 1980's.

Here are some lines of Molotov lyrics (translated into english, I don't know if it has sense in english, but i will try to give a meaning without losing the essence in the attempt).

"Because we weren't born where there's not anything to eat, we don't have to ask what we gonna do, and if they treat us like a lazy bastards, we aren't. Hurray for Mexico motherf****s... we have to tied our bind because we all are brother, and we have strenght, why are you following that bunches of as**oles? that are carrying you wherever they want, and is our hard work that makes them live better, it makes them eat our food, that food owns to from our people..." Molotov-gimme the power

"D*mn Jacobo traitor, you hide news to our country, you receive tips from Carlos Salinas, you send to adverstising while you just change the message, then you got news and you judges people on air or live... He lies to everybody, don't let him lie to you, don't let Jacobo makes you a fool... there is a host who work in Televisa (TV network) that f***k you up with his lies, he changes the numbers to all the frauds and tax evations..."
Molotov, Que no tehaga bobo jacobo (Don't let Jacobo makes you stupid).

Orion Constellation

For so long time the stars have been created many questions inside the mind of the man. He has tried to understand the misteries that universe hide. On his way to finding the meaning of the stars he created sotires about it. He put them into groups and gave them names. One of them is called Orion.
Orion appears in autumn-winter season. Other name how people is called him is The Hunter (it names referes from a Greek mithologhy). Orion is accompanied by his faithful dogs, Canis major and Canis minor.
Many people confuse two words, Astronomy and Astrology. I talk in terms of Astronomy, I don't care Astrology. I like to be in the night sky, talk with God. It's just like that.
I recommended put it your I-pod and listening Enigma songs, and if you can get "A posteriori" album is going to be better, that music helps to enjoy it better, it makes you feel that you are in the Universe and watching everything with your own eyes. Well, it works for me.

Ambigram

I like everything about the symbols, enigmas, and how things in the world are working, I'm just curios about that. And that feeling made me to find this stuffs named Ambigrams. An ambigram is a graphical where you can see pictures, or words in both sides, even if it's up-down or left-right. Sometimes an ambigram can be in 3-D.

I found one that I really liked and I wanted to share it.

To see what is hidden in this picture just rotate it. If you got it please wrtite it on a comment, even you Billy Reeder c(:
I found many of ambigrams, names, pictures, quotes. Just type it on google.
This link is a good site where you can see interesting things. Plus you can generate your own ambigram with words.
